Things My Blog has Taught Me

My blog has taught me that I have shopped much better for dress up clothes than for casual clothes. Unfortunately most of my work requires casual wear.

So since I'm taking photos almost daily I want the working at home outfits to be as interesting as the working at the college ones. I wear jeans a lot but I'm going to try to change it up a bit and find other ways to be casual and comfortable. Not today, though. :)

Here's what I wore today:

Tank-(Mervyns)
White bias ruffle t-shirt-(FIDM Scholarship Store)
Black cardigan-(FIDM Scholarship Store)
Gap jeans-(thrifted)
Necklace-(vintage)

I thought the original picture was too blue so I used the Cinemascope effect here with Picnik (after cropping it of course)

Here I used warmify, film grain, and then sharpen in Picassa 3. I think I like Cinemascope best.

Old Navy Dress (Literally)

I gave a tour yesterday at FIDM. I was running late and had to throw myself together. Luckily this dress didn't need ironing so it was the winner. I love this dress. It's vintage and fits really well. I got it at Goodwill for about $8.00.

By the way, I'm trying to learn more about photography. I always love the fashion blogs that have beautiful pictures. I just have a point-and-shoot camera and even though I have Photoshop on my computer, I haven't learned it yet. I do use Picassa 3 which is a free download and now they have Picnik included. That has some cool effects and many of them are free. You have the option to upgrade to Premium for more choices.

Here's the photo from above with the outlet removed with the Picassa Retouch tool. Then I used the Cross Process tool from Picnik.

For the version below, I added Film Grain. Fun, huh? It's so easy and what's better than free?

Pam at over50feeling40 is doing a great series of foundational dressing categories. I tend to blend (1)Classic with (2)Artistic or (3)Glamorous (not one of her 5 but one of mine) Also, I love (4)Vintage and Retro so that tends to show up a lot, too. So that's 4 for me right off the bat. I think my fifth one would be (5)Edgy or something. There's still a little bit of the Punk Rock fashion rebel in there somewhere.
